SAVE OUR SCHOOl lEttER

My name is Guadalupe and I am an 8th grader at Urban Promise Academy in Oakland CA. My school is supportive and small but a great school. Some programs we have are soccer, cheerleading, drama and dancing classes. The teachers are vary supportive and helpful with every student attending here. Our school  is already struggling with not having enough money. I am writing this letter to you because I want you to save schools. Urban Promise Academy needs funding supplies we need. We also need money so that we could be able to go to field trip and get scholar ships. The thing I will  most miss at UPA if we don not get funding is the field trips and the supplies that are most needed. My education is very important to me. My education will allow me to go to college and get a degree. I need the opportunity to go and get a job. My family wants me to get an education so that I could have a good job in the future. Please support my education by letting California vote on the tax extension measure.. The future of California depends on High Quality education for all.

COllEGE FOR ALL ESSAy

Life isn’t easy without going to college. Since my auntie died, because she was extremely sick in Mexico , I have always dreamed of going to college and being a doctor I would never like people to suffer like my auntie did. I would like people to stay alive, and be with the persons they really loved. When I grow up, I would like to help people no matter whats their sickness. I would like to save their life and not let them died.
Hi my is Guadalupe Elizabeth Espinoza Rodriguez who was born in Ventura, California. I came to Oakland when I was 3 years old . I have been leaving in Oakland for 10 years. When  I came to Oakland I lived in a place that was not secured at all. There was gangs and violence that did not let Oakland be a protected place where everyone was secured. When I walked with my parents in the street their was a lot of the tagging in the walls.Ventura was a very secured place there was no gangs and violence there. It was a place where everyone was protected by too many violence. We came to Oakland because my parents did not have work over there so they decided to come here.
One challenge that I had is when I came to Oakland I didn’t know how to speak English and most of the teachers I have had spoke English and some of them talked in Spanish but only a little bit. My parents didn’t know how to talk in English either and it was really hard for me to do the English homework. Another big challenge I had was when we had the benchmark when we had to read in English. It was hard for me to read the paragraphs and answer the questions because I did not know how to read at all, but one day when I got home I got a dictionary that was English and Spanish and I started reading the words and their meaning. Reading the dictionary helped me a lot because when I had another test I knew the words and their meaning, and I was able to find to find the answers to the questions. The last challenge I had was when we went to the ropes course I was scarred to climb up because I thought I was going to fall from the ropes. After I decided to climb because I knew that I had to leave my scariness away. Then I decided to climb and I did not climb the whole way but at least I tried.
My family is the most beautiful thing that has happen to me. My family can be described as respectful because they are not mean to other people they are always being nice and talking to them with a good language. They are responsible because they always do what they have to do. They are helpful because every time that someone is sick from Mexico my parents always helped them. They helped them by sending them money. They care about other people because they like to see people in good conditions. My parents care about me, my parents, and sisters education because their dreams are for us to go to college and to have a great life. What I liked about Oakland is that it offers you too many opportunities to be someone great in the future. I also like that there is too many teachers in Oakland that help you to go to college. There is schools that give you scholar ships to go to college and be the person that you want to be. I also like Oakland because some of the dreams that people have come true. Immigrants that are living in Oakland fight for their rights and they never give up because they know that one day their dreams will come true.
I think I should go to college for all because it is a great opportunity to go and visit colleges and decide to which I am going to. Also because it is a opportunity to talk to students and see how college is like and see what am going to do. I also should go to college for all because I want to see how campus is, and to see what kind of classes am going to have I should go because I want to see how teachers are like and what they teach students. I also think I should go to college because I want to see how big is the campus and how is it from the inside.
